Hopefully there will be soon! Josh, my boss just gave me the go-ahead to work on this, since it'll teach me more about the machine and wat it can do. I guess it can work in 3D as well, which sounds cool. I'll send you some ideas soon.

Eddie, if you feel comfortable with it, you should post the case drawing you sent me, it's really nice.  And I'd like to hear what others think.

Well, I don't know what happened to Eddie, hopefully he'll be back soon!

Meanwhile I've been working on a super-basic plexi case.  The idea is to have two square sheets of plexi held apart by standoffs, and bolts through the four corners of the Driver board hold everything together:

Here's the top plate:

And the bottom plate:

Here's an alternative top plate that marekbuk suggested.  It has a slot to allow the strip connectors to pass through to the circuit, and the strips are adhered right on top of this plate, rather than to a separate plexi sheet as in the previous layout.

This would be thinner and might look really cool:

I know someone with a laser cutter who can cut the plexi but she needs the designs in vector format, like CorelDraw or Adobe Illustrator, but I have neither.  If anyone has these tools and can quickly convert these to vector graphics I could get them made up sooner than later.

Here are the files in .psd as well as .jpg: http://www.soundwidgets.com/stribe/case/

Grin  Thanks Eddie!  (now have them in vector format - should have some examples to try soon)

Just to see, I ordered a version of this design in 1/8" aluminum from BigBlueSaw.  So if that works out well there will soon be 3 options for cases:

plexi "sandwich"
aluminum "sandwich"
butcher-block routed

are the edges on the aluminum rounded off?  fresh-cut metal edges are never a good thing...

Aluminum is pretty soft, I imagine I can file off any sharp edges.

Well, the aluminum sheets came today.  Here's a quick assembly with just some of the edges filed off.  This will look really nice polished, I bet.

Nice pictures! I'm curious about how the frosted panels look when the stribe is turned on.. any chance to take a few pictures? I liked the effect with 5mm blue leds.
